Me and Canadian Scrapbooker.

I don't know about you but every time I'm expecting something in the mail it seems to take forever. So long infact that I forget about it. Then of course it shows up! Well that's what happend to me today, the scrapbook magazine "Canadian Scrapbooker" finally arrived and at first I couldn't figure out why a "catty" was in my mailbox then it clicked. Eeeeeeeek!

You may be wondering what's so exciting weeeellll awhile back Canadian Scrapbooker contacted me and asked if I'd like to be featured in their "Passport to Creativity"section of their magazine. OMG!!! Would I ever!!! .
I can not believe I'm featured here, this magazine of chalked full of talented Canadian Scrapbookers, and they picked me to be part of it??
Here are the the layouts featured. Thank you for stoping by my blog.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, I hope you have a very wonderful weekend.

ShortCuts Picnic Basket

Well it's another Thursday ShortCuts day. I made a little clear box from ShortCuts clear sheet.
Then using the basketweave technique to make the sides of a basket. I thought it might be cute to make a "picnic" basket type container and slipped a gift card and candy in it. I decorated the front with Whimsie Doodles School Digi stamps.

I thought it was only fitting to stuff the clear box with loose leaf paper. I just cut it into small strips and crinkled the paper.

Oh if you want to know how I made this here's a pictorial for you.

Bombshell Hybrid card

I found the cutest digitl kit the other day. It's called Flight of Fancy and it was only $2 at The Digi Chic! The first thing that caught my eye was the gorgeous cloud designer paper then the combination of colours in the kit. When I shop for a digital kit I always look for the paper first, then it's usually the elements that seal the deal for me. Yes my name is Melyssa and I'm a paper hoarder! It doesn't matter if it's paper from a store or digital paper, I have to have it all!! The worst part is I never actually use all the paper, I just seem to "collect" it.
Anyway I wanted this cloud paper to use in my cards. So I just print a 4.25x5.5" piece of this paper cut it out and use it in my card just like any other DP. Then I decided I needed a big'ol sun and printed the some of the yellow DP. I stamped the palm trees from Bombshell stamps "Hawiaiian girl" coloured and cut them out and well here's is the end result.
LOL I just realized digi paper is like my own private "paper on demand". The only "trip" I have to make to get more DP is through my computer!

Zuttter my ShortCuts!

Well I'm a very lucky girl because I have a friend who has everything and she lets me borrow her things!! This week I wanted to make a little colouring book with a clear cover and back, so I borrowed my friends Zutter machine. I started by making a card box (template from The Cutting Cafe) and I used ShortCuts frosted sheet to make the box top. That way it's a little foggy as to what's inside the box. Next I printed the NoteCut 1 also from ShortCuts and used to as a journal box for the cover.
Now as for the colouring book inside I printed digital stamps from Whimsie Doodles and cut them into rectangles (about the size of a standard card). I also cut ShortCuts clear sheets the same size for the front and back covers of my book.
Put it through the Zutter and ta daaaa I have a mini customized book!

Here is what you'll find in this fun little box.

Halloween Cards

I hate to see paper go to waste. Especially DP! So when I have a sheet or two that I really like I try to make the best of it and use it in as many cards as I can. Today I want to show you what you can do with 2 sheets of DP and cardstock. I used the new halloween digi stamps from Whimsie Doodles to make these samples.

Sweet Boy digital Page

I love scrapbooking digi style! I picked up this fabulous kit Strawberry Cafe from Sugarplum Paperie to make a layout. The cupcake is from the new digi stamp Yummy Doodles from Whimsie Doodles. I used the cupcake as my template to "cut out" the DP from the digi kit. Flattend the image and put a white stroke around the cupcake to make it look like a sticker.

Eeeek spiders!!

I am sooooo afraid of spiders!!! That's why I go for the cute images. The spider in this digi stamp comes with his own web and sentiment. I made these cards using the same paper (reversed) and the same card size.

I used Stickles on the web and here's a close up. It looks like I flocked it!! LOL

Whimsie Doodles and ShortCuts

I thought I'd try to use the Whimsie Doodles digital "stamps" to make a digital scrapbook page. I used the Sunny Day digital stamps as my template to cut out the digital paper. When I was happy with the that I then flattened the image and added a white stroke to make it look like a sticker. I also used the NoteCut 1 from ShortCuts to frame the layout.
This is some pics of DH, DS and our dog Mirra going for one of our usual walks.

School days

I know it's not Sept yet but I've been school shopping already! Eeeek! Anyway I've been playing with the new digi stamp "School Things" from Whimsie Doodles.

Adding dew drops over the headlights of the bus gave it a little more dimension.
