Birthday Girl

Happy Monday!!  As some of you may know Cricut is releasing a new Expression for their 5th Anniversary and they hosted a layout contest.  The prize is of course a brand spanking new Expression 2.  The winners will be announced tomorrow after the Home Shopping Network.  Since I've submitted 2 layouts for the contest I'll be sitting on the edge of my seat watching the show on the internet to see if one of my layouts will be shown.  If I win I want a pink Expression!!  The neat thing is I didn't have to keep my submissions secret, I can share them with you all. So here's my first entry.
The Die Cuttin' Diva's are hosting a Time to mix it up challenge #10.  This time you just need to use 2 different cuts/dies/cartridges on 1 project.  I used the Robotz alpha and A Child's Year Cricut cartridge for this layout.

Critter Tags

I've been holding out!  LOL Did you know that this weeks challenge at
Die Cuttin Diva's is all about tags??
And if you follow my blog you'll know that I LOVE tags!  More specifically the regular manila shipping tags.  There's just something about that size that suites me just fine.
Anyway I made some tags using my Cricut Cartridge "Create a Critter" (my most favorite cartridge of all). The sentiments on these tags came from an adorable clear stamp set called Under the Weather from There She Goes stamps.
Stop by the Die Cuttin Diva's and play long with their challenge,
they're even giving away a prize!

M&M's

When I first received my initials in monogram stamps from PSA Essentials I immediately thought of M&M's and couldn't get it out of my head so one day I sat down to try and figure out how I was going to make the candy characters and how to do it fairly easy.  As you'll see I figured it out just by using a couple of circles.  Then I couldn't wait to make this post.  I've been holding these puppies back for weeks.  I'm so pleased with how they come out.
Here's Blue M&M
Here's Yellow
And here's hottie Pink showing off her engagement ring.
As you can see I just kept going, I was so happy with how the first one came out I made more.  This time I used the letter T and made 2 divas for my twin friends who celebrated their birthday last week.

Enjoy your day

This week's iCopic challenge is to colour an embellishment.  I'm really excited about this one because ever since I've had my Copics I've been colouring embellishments.  So far my favorite is changing the colour of white ribbon.  But today I coloured clear pebbles for the centre of my Daisy's.  I used my newest Copic edition E23 to colour Cotton Candy Leah's hair.  I think it's my new favorite colour!
There's a tutorial over at Whimsie Doodles on how I coloured the pebbles.

On another note today I have 3 cards that look the same only different.  I'm calling it the Same Look Different Stuff technique.  (It probably already has a name but I couldn't find it)  So for now it's SLDS!
I used Baby Joy rubber stamps from Whimsie Doodles to make the following cards.
Here's a baby girl card.

Monogram Wedding Card

Monograms are all about the letters!  And this month I have some special projects using Monogram's from PSA Essentials. Today's card feature the M, C and & Monogram stamp. I was trying to make an elegant, minimal colour card with really striking (black) elements.  I used cream cardstock to try and soften the contrast between it and black. Then I added the soft baby pink to give it a little more colour and detail.

See the little black gems?  Well they are actually clear, I just coloured them with my black Copic Marker. Each monogram has 5 different styles of a letter. So you can mix and match them, like in the card above I used the same style for the "M" and "C" but a more swirly style for the "&".

Trigger Tuesday

Today I stepped out of my comfort zone and made a card with flowers.  Yep and it's all because I was inspired by the
The challenge is to look at the trigger photo and make something that was inspired by the photo. This weeks photo is of a scarf made entirely of crochet flowers.
The first thing that came to mind is kraft paper (for the wooden chair) and flowers.  But what do I do with the flowers?  Well I just picked up the new Jillibean Soup Owl mini deck and it's full of fun papers and cute owls so I thought I'd make the flowers with the different pattens (using the spellbinders flower die).  But what about embellishements, I love me some embellies so what can I do about that.  Well I bought a huge bag of button shanks (clear buttons) from Ebay a few years ago and I used to love making buttons from pattern paper, so I dug the buttons out and that it....funky embellies for funky flowers.
So I frayed the edges for a vintage look, did a terrible job on the stitching to make it look homemade and couldn't figure out where to put a sentiment so I left it out.

Here's a side view of the buttons.

All you have to do to make your own buttons is
Take a clear button and add diamond glaze (tiny dab) to one side
place on paper you want to cover
Squish down on the top of the button to put out the glaze
allow to dry throughtly the clip around button with scissors. (if the glaze is still wet the button will slide as your trying to cut around it)

Bundle of Joy

Today is a very exciting day, it's new release day for Whimsie Doodles
There's a lot of new designs in the store check it out here.
Today's card was made using the newest image Circus Baby Lion and it's also based on this week's MOJO Monday sketch challenge #185.
