skip the cake

Well I'm back with another project using my favorite new technique...medallions.  I've been using them everywhere!!  As you know I made the PSA Essentials design team, what you might not know is that I had to try out for the team.  They narrowed down the search and sent out some of their product for potential team members to use.  The challenge was to use the cupcake image in a fun way.  So I thought what better fun then with a tag.  Ha!  You know I love tags and I had saved a kraft gift bag and thought I'll re use it to make a gift bag to go with the tag.

A CASE of Love and beakers!

Well it's almost the end of the month and that means this is the last CASEing of our muse Mercy Kerin.
We'll start with a new muse next week.  I have to admit Mercy really had me stumped for this challenge. I think it was the flowers.  So I went searching through my stamp pile and found a stamp set (I've never used yet) you know the kind I'm talking about, the set you just HAVE to HAVE and never use.  Well this set is called Chemistry by There She Goes stamps and I used them for this card.  Now my purchase has been vindicated! ha!

The girls over at CASE study have made some pretty and amazing cards based on Mercy's sketch.  Check them out and you will see the fabulous prize that's up for grabs.

Yesterday was my birthday and my wonderful friends from Whimsie Doodles threw me an online surprise party.  Yep they got together and made me birthday cards and posted them on the WD blog and completely surprised me.  What a wonderful surprise, it truly made my day.  Stop over and see, especially if you want some birthday card inspiration.
I had the best day ever!  I had my favorite birthday cake "Oreo Cookie", got a giant monitor and was showered in birthday cards!!  And I even managed to talk my son into having his photo taken with me.  Here's my monitor dwarfing my laptop.
Here's a card I made using the newest digi Cupcake Leah.

CASE challenge

Mercy is truly and inspiration for this month's CASE study challenge.  Here's Mercy' card, isn't it amazing with the fading yellow sky?

Here's my card

I used the Valen-tinies digi stamp set from Whimsie Doodles to make this card.  And the doilie is a Fiskars punch I picked up.  I think the punch was made to create half circle fancy borders but as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to make doilies.

Fly anyway

Today's post has one of my favorite creates, although I'm scared of them I still like them.  Weird eh?
Have I told you I'm loving my Cricut Machine!  I love getting all kinds of use out of it.
I thought at first I'd just cut out something like "have a Bee-utiful day" but I wanted something better so I started searching through my stamp stash and found the perfect sentiment from Paper Makeup.  It's a stamp set called Buggy Sayings and it's a really funny set.  This card has the more serious of the two sentiments.
This was created using the Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge.

Sorry about this but I just received confirmation that all 7 of my Cricut submissions are going to be published in Cricut Magazine June/July 2011 and had to take down my card and not show any of the other cards I was planning on sharing.  Eeeek!!  I'm so thrilled I want to run out into the snow and shout, but it's too cold and my neighbors wouldn't hear me anyway.

Happy Birthday Koale!

Hi everyone!
Today is my son's 15th birthday and he wanted a birthday cake that looks like Saturn.  Not a flat cake but a sphere with rings!  I've never made a speciality cake before let alone a ball but I watch Cake Boss and decided I would give it a try.
It turned out pretty cool I think, especially since I'm not a cake decorator or "Cake Boss" and this being my first try at making a cake that wasn't just a flat bottom square cake.  At first I wanted to wrap the globe in fondant, so I bought the mystery stuff  and some food dye and marble the fondant.  And tried to wrap it around the cake. NOT!!!  It didn't work.  Since I've never used Fondant before I didn't know what to expect but I did learn from it.  Anyway I just used plain white icing and a little food dye to create a swirling gas planet.
I used the ROBOTZ Cricut Cartrige to decorate the bottom.  I love the little 3D robots.
Here it is in all it's 3 layered chocolaty goodness. The bottom half is rice crispies.

You R2 cute

This week's Whimsie Wednesday's challenge is Boys will be boys.  It's a pretty simple challenge, you just need to use a boy image.  That's it!  I love the easy challenges!! I used the new R2 digi image from Whimsie Doodles to make my card.
Stop by the Whimsie Doodles blog and play along, there's a prize for one lucky player.
