Baby Tags

Wanna know what's fun about making tags?  There little, scraps are perfect for decorting them and it only takes a few of embellishments to dress them up.  Then you can tie them to a gift or glue them to a card or whatever else you can think of.  The theme of today's tags is "Baby".

Way to go

My friend and I go on the occasional road trip to visit our favorite crafts stores which are a little over and hour away so we don't do this often.  The hard part about the trip is trying not to spend a ton of money.  But it's really hard when you see all the toys and paper stacks!  So when one of us manages to not spend a lot it's like we've accomplished something major.  It's a yeah me I still have change kind of thing :)  So I made this card for our next trip,  on the outside it says "Way to go" but on the inside it says "for not over doing it, now let's get lunch"

Hoodie Teen rocks!!

Masculine cards are really hard to make, for me anyway.  I find myself wanting to dress it up and then feeling like I'm made it too girly.  But if I don't embellish it then it looks too plain and boring.  So that is always my "masculine" dilemma!  For this card I used a little distressing, jute twine and chocolate cardstock and even though I used a scallop border I feel it still looks boyish. So I'm thinking that masculine cards can be accomplished if you throw in some "girly" things only if it's in very limited amounts.

Lucky wishes

Here's a type of card I rarely make but glad I did.  Since I don't have a shamrock die I took a heart die and cut 4 green hearts, pinch the bottom, sew together and presto a shamrock is born!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Thank you

I couldn't wait to try the Desert Sand technique.  (it's just stamping with desert sand Memento ink and colouring with Copics).  I'm so glad I tried it with the little guy, he turned out soooo cute.  The light ink colour made him look so soft, I think it actually added more dimension.

Scootin' By

There She Goes has teamed up with  Tuesday Morning Sketches  to bring you  a challenge this, but there's a catch, it has to be monochromatic! So here's the 411 on my card, I only read part of the challenge, (the part that said Tuesday Morning sketches) looked at the sketch and went off to make my card.  Sooooo my card isn't monochromatic, and since I'm not even home this week I can't go and make another card. I hope you like it! :)
here's the sketch

and here's my card
I used the stamp set Scootin' By to make this card.

Little things

Well it's the start of March break and I'm off to visit my parents.  But before I go I have a card to share with you using the new "doll heads" from Whimsie Doodles.  If you ever want to practice face and hair colouring then these images are perfect for you.  They are large (but not so big they don't fit a standard card) with big eyes and even bigger hair.  So you have lots of space to play around with.

I used the image called "Thinking" to make this card.
I gave her a bit of an eyelid (E11) and darkened the area under her eyes (E11), then added a little eyeshadow (W3), blush (pink chalk) and real hair elastics!  I punched holes on both sides of her pigtails, threaded twine through to tie elastics on.

Thank you for foiling me!

So I was going to some foils in my hair from a friend of mine who is a hair stylist.  We figured it would disguise my grey hair.  I was so excited about it that I wanted to make my friend a card to reflect my big day.  And what better way to do that then to embellish a doll head from Whimsie Doodles with "foils".  The trick was to print two identical images and colour the hair of both.  Then cut strands of hair from one reattach at the roots and slip some tiny pieces of tin foil under the strands.  I also added of 3D foam squares to make the strands look like they are lifted over the foils.

Red hair challenge #72

iCopic lover is hosting a colour challenge #72 this week and it's one of my favorites!  The challenge is to colour RED hair!!! Eeeek!!  I think this is one of my most favorite colours for hair.  I used the YR series for her hair, it's not exactly red but it's a more strawberry blond (on the orange side). LOL
I used a Social Teen doll head from Whimsie Doodles to make this card.  They have big heads that are perfect for customizing with hair clips, earrings or any other accessory.  This card was created specifically with my best friends daughter in mind.  She has gorgeous red hair and hazel green eyes and LOVE Angry Birds.  So I picked up that Angry Bird hair clip from Daisy Doo's Hair Clips, cut two slots in the hair and slipped the bow through.  Now the card IS the gift!
